Woodworking

I have spent most of my life living in the garage. Even as a teenager I would spend hours on end working on models or making things out of disgarded aplliances. As an adult I went to college and ended up accumulating enough credits to graduate with a masters degree in fine arts. I have exhibited my art nationally and internationally in a wide range of media including paintings to digital animation and everything in between.

Having reached a transitional point in my life, at the age of 37, I have switched my focus from art to functional objects. To me the distinction between “Art” and “Craft” has never been as significant as others make it out to be. In my mind both processes are one and the same.

So why wood?

Sustainability. Wood its self is an environmentally sustainable product grown by nature and recycled by nature. What I do to the wood only temporally alters its form but at the same time can be used to create objects if cared for will give generations of use. It is also sustainable as a rebellion to consumerism. It is my goal to make unique objects that stand the test of use and time which out last fashionable trends. The objects I make will look better than most of the mass-produced consumer goods but also last much longer.
